Kinesiology taping, KT taping, and k taping, all refer to the same method of applying the stretchy tape. "KT", though, is often used to refer to a brand name of kinesiology tape.
The method of kinesiology taping differs from your standard competitive taping in a few distinct ways.
This is a frequently asked question. The answer: nothing. Kinesiology tape--sold by many brands, by many names--is widely sold in differing color, size, shape, elasticity, and adherence. You can find short videos on the internet explaining how to apply the tape yourself. However, taping done by a certified and trained professional leads to the most effective results.
The recoil of the tape, by way of the skin, provides neurological signals to the muscles beneath to encourage corrected motion. Additionally, the recoil of the tape lifts the skin, assisting blood flow to the area. This brings fresh white blood cells to the area, stimulating healing and removing stagnant swelling and bruising. This method of taping is most effective to correct posture or movements, pain relief, and decreasing bruising and swelling.
